Voluntary boat inspections – Discount for Boat insurance fees.
One of out most popular services for members in the voluntary Boat inspection by our trained and accredited boat inspectors. Most Finnish insurance companies give a significant discount for the boat insurance, if the boat is inspected every year. Inspection is also a good way for the boat owner to have a peace of mind, making sure the boat and equipment are in safe condition. Our boat inspectors are ready to assist and support you in any boat technology issues, and answer any questions about safe operation and maintenance of your boat and equipment.
Powerboat training, navigation training
MPS arranges various training courses. We have qualified instructors for inshore, coastal and celestial navigation courses, We use the training programme of Finnish Navigation association and Sailing and Boating Finland. We also have courses for preparing to the SRC (Short Rang Certificate) licence test, which is a requirement for Marine VHF radio.
Sail racing
MPS arranges races for dinghy classes and keelboats. We have an annual race where beginners, powerboaters without any sailing experience are warmly welcome to participate as crewmembers, with experienced skippers.
Social events, other activities
MPS has lots of events and activities throughout the boating season: Fishing competitions, Regattas for powerboaters, Midsummer celebrations and Pizza cooking evenings at the island harbours, just to name a few. Outside the boating season, we have social gathengs like the trip to the Helsinki Boat Fair in February and pre-christmas party in December.
Our club does not have any paid personnel to run the club, maintain the facilities or arrange the events and activities. Everything happens because of our volunteers. We always have a need for new, enthusiastic members who might be willing to join our volunteers.
